9.12.2025 | According to the Reputation&Trust study, the reputation of the Emergency Response Centre Agency is ranked fourth among public administration agencies. The public felt that the Agency performed best in the responsibility and products and services dimensions.

3.2.2026 | In 2025, an average of 7,300 emergency calls were made to the emergency number every day. The number of assignments relayed to authorities took an upward turn.

9.4.2026 | The strength of Finland’s 112 system lies in its ability to operate seamlessly across organisational boundaries. Daily cooperation, shared systems and long‑standing trust between authorities make this integrated model possible.

10.3.2026 | Growth in the foreign-language population in Finland is reflected in the interpretation of emergency calls – calls were interpreted in 41 different languages last year. Most often, an emergency call requiring interpretation was made in Russian, Ukrainian or Arabic.

10.3.2026 | There is only one emergency number in Finland, 112, where you will get help in emergencies. The emergency number can help you no matter which language you speak.

26.5.2025 | The coming weekend will see young people deservedly celebrate the end of the school year and the start of the summer holiday. For the emergency line, the school closing weekend is usually busier than a normal summer weekend.

30.4.2025 | Each year, the unique Finnish model for producing ERC services attracts international guests to visit Finland in order to monitor daily operations at emergency response centres. Visitors want to emulate the model, which is cost efficient and makes it possible to dispatch help quickly.

11.8.2025 | The Emergency Response Centre Agency also forwards tasks to social and crisis emergency services. In 2024, the number of these tasks increased by 4 percentage points compared to the previous year, overtaking the number of tasks forwarded to rescue services.

4.8.2025 | It’s important to talk with children and young people about the importance of making an emergency call. For example, physical violence is always a crime, even if it’s referred to as school bullying. An ongoing violent situation is always a reason to call the emergency number 112.

16.3.2026 | The automatic emergency call system eCall is installed in roughly one in eight Finnish passenger cars and vans. According to a study commissioned by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, the eCall system prevented an estimated one road fatality between 2019 and 2023 in Finland. From the perspective of emergency response centres, the main problem is false eCall notifications, which account for around 80 per cent of all eCalls.

1.4.2026 | In Finland, there are two ways to quickly warn people, for example about an imminent danger from the air: Emergency warning and alarm signal. The 112 Suomi mobile app is already one of the channels for communicating emergency warnings.

14.8.2025 | Only approximately half of Finns know that the emergency number 112 works in all EU countries. When you call 112 in an EU member state, the call is always routed to a local emergency response centre.

15.4.2026 | You can now find instructions on what to do in the event of an air hazard in the 112 Suomi app. Emergency warnings will also be transmitted to the app based on the phone’s location data.

20.4.2023 | The European Emergency Number Association EENA awarded a Finnish emergency response centre operator for outstanding work in assisting a person that had fallen through the ice in the wilderness. Finland’s emergency response centres are built around the professionalism of ERC operators and cooperation between authorities, and the case demonstrates the effectiveness of this approach.

28.1.2025 | Teaching children how to use the emergency number correctly is a safety action. It is important to talk to children about identifying emergencies and encourage them to report an emergency.

28.3.2025 | The Emergency Response Centre Agency’s guidelines for handling prehospital emergency care tasks were revised at the end of November 2023. The change is reflected in the number of tasks assigned to prehospital emergency care and in their priority distribution.
