Processing of personal data by the Emergency Response Centre Agency

Personal data means any information that can be used to identify an individual. This includes name, personal identity code, phone number and location information. Special categories of personal data include racial and ethnic origin and health information, for example.

Data protection safeguards the rights and freedoms of the individual when processing personal data. Processing of personal data should always be based on the law. Among others, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act and the Act on Emergency Response Centre Operations regulate the processing of personal data by the Emergency Response Centre Agency.

The Emergency Response Centre Agency will only process personal data if it is necessary for the performance of its statutory duties.

Transfers of data

The Agency will never transfer personal data to countries outside of the EU or the EEA.

Automated decision-making

The Emergency Response Centre Agency never makes decisions based solely on automated processing. The Emergency Response Centre Agency also does not use the personal data it processes to profile subscribers.

Access to own personal data

According to Article 15 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (679/2016), data subjects have the right to access their personal data.
The controller is required to provide a copy of your personal data stored in its systems or confirmation that your personal data is not being processed.
Requests to access personal data should be addressed to the Emergency Response Centre Agency using the contact information in the section ‘Contact information’ of the website or using the forms at 112.fi/en/personal-data-and-gdpr. We recommend using encrypted email when submitting requests for access to personal data: https://securemail.112.fi/
The request for access must include sufficient information to identify you in the system being accessed. In general, your name, address and phone number are sufficient identifying information.
When exercising the right of access, your identity is verified
when collecting a recorded delivery.

Right to have your data corrected or completed

It is possible to request the correction of inaccurate personal data. If your data is incomplete, you can also request to have it completed.

The Emergency Response Centre Agency may, with a justified decision, refuse to correct or complete the personal data.

If your personal data requires correction or completion, we ask that you let the Emergency Response Centre Agency know which data is incorrect and on what basis and how the data should be corrected or completed. The free-form correction request should be submitted to the Emergency Response Centre Agency using the contact information in the ‘Contact information’ section.

Right to have your data erased

Under certain circumstances, data subjects have the right to request the erasure of their personal data without undue delay. However, this right does not apply if the processing of personal data is necessary to comply with a statutory duty of the controller, for example.

The free-form data erasure request should be submitted to the Emergency Response Centre Agency using the contact information in the ‘Contact information’ section.

Right to restrict processing

If you have let us know that your personal data is incorrect, you have the right to request the restriction of processing until the accuracy of the data is verified

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

If you feel that your personal data has been processed in violation of applicable laws, you can lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman.
